Haruna Tukur, FCT- Following it’s resounding victory in a majority of bye elections conducted all over the Federation, the All Progressives Congress has described such victories as a solid display and pointer that the APC remains the only political party with a true national appeal and acceptance by Nigerians, across geo-political zones and sundry groupings.
This was contained in a statement released by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena.
In that statement, Nabena said:
“As a governing party, the APC does not take the massive national support for granted. This is indeed a true demonstration that President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC government he leads remains massively popular with Nigerians, despite the warped narrative some opposition partisans try to sell.
The President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration is further buoyed by this national support to improve the lives of Nigerians, genuinely address our challenges and overall better our dear country.
Nabena also gave credit for the success of the party to the reconciliation and repositioning work of the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), which he stated had accommodated all interests as well as had ensured peace, unity, fairness, equity, justice and inclusion and internal democracy in the party.
The party also bemoaned the loss of a number of policemen who had drowned in a boat mishap while on election duty in Bayelsa State.
“We received with sadness and regret the casualties resulting from the unfortunate boat mishap involving some policemen on election duty in Bayelsa state.”
Nabena, also drew the attention of the press to some election irregularities in some states were the concurrent legislative by-elections held, accusing the People’s Democratic Party, PDP of wanting to foist electoral fraudulence on the electioneering process. He also called on all Nigerians to continue to give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the much required support in order for the electoral body to continue to deliver hitch free and peaceful elections.
