Haruna Tukur, FCT- Following the call by Senator Kabiru Marafa on the Chairman of the Care taker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Governor Mai Mala Buni to either conduct the party’s mini convention in December this year or resign, the Director General of Press and Media, Yobe State Government, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed has faulted such a call by stating that Senator Marafa’s membership of the party is questionable owing to his reported suspension by the Zamfara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress , APC .
Alhaji Mohammed stated this in a chat with realpoliticsnigeria.ng in which he berated the former senator for claiming to be a party member as well as a stakeholder whereas his membership status was much in doubt.
Alhaji Mohammed said: “We have been inundated with empty threats by Senator Marafa, who we understand cannot claim to be a member of the All Progressives Congress by virtue of his suspension from the party’s activities by his state chapter.
Thus we wish to urge the public, our party members all over the state and the media to please disregard whatever missives Senator Marafa has been launching against the leadership of the CECPC as led by the Governor of Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni.
When Governor Buni took this job, it came with a certain undertaking to rejuvenate the party structures all over the federation, he took it with the understanding that it would not be a stroll in the park, that several obstacles would arise to challenge his mission but because of what is at stake he resolved to take the challenge and remain steadfast. Therefore, it is not surprising to us that the the likes of Marafa who is not a bonafide member of the party as we speak is jostling to pull down the leadership of the CECPC for his selfish gains. How can someone who has been suspended by the party in his home state come around and berate the leadership of the Caretaker Committee that has been adjudged to be doing a solid job by reconciling members of the party for the challenges ahead? As a suspended member of the party, Senator Marafa lacks the moral grounds to speak on issues affecting the party, he should first of all rectify the issues as regards his membership before coming forward to partake in whatever discourse that the party is involved in.”
