Igboeli Arinze, FCT- A former Senator and guber aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Marafa, has asked Governor Mai Mala Buni to resign if he fails to conduct a National Convention for the All Progressives Congress, APC by December,2020.
In a press statement made available to us by Senator Marafa, the senator had accused the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, off going outside his purported mandate of reconciliation and the conduct of a mini National Convention.
Senator Marafa maintained that the membership registration was not part of the mandate of the committee, alleging that it was diversionary as well as was an attempt by Buni to perpetuate himself as Chairman of the CECPC.
He accused the Buni of acting like his former governor and major political foe, Abdulaziz Yari, who he said abandoned the governance of the state in favour of Nigerian Governors Forum because of
Marafa said: “Your State, Yobe, is in
deeper crisis than APC, the state needs
you more than the party, emulate your
senior brother and colleague in Borno.
Your agenda will collapse in a similar way the ones before yours collapsed.”
Marafa has long been in a running battle with the structure of the former governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari and leads a faction of the APC in
Zamfara State. He had recently accused Governor Buni of being economical with the truth when Governor Buni announced that he had reconciled the factions in Zamfara, a call Marafa had described as false.
Marafa had also described the appointment of Governor Buni as unconstitutional citing Section 17(IV) of the APC’S Constitution but his likes had chosen to keep quiet owing to the respect party members like him had for President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Be informed that any action you take
outside your primary mandate of
organizing a convention that will usher in a new set of executives will be null, void and of no effect whatsoever. You have up to December to do the needful or we chase you out.
“Your state needs you more than the
party, go and administer your state, you
can’t be governor and chairman of APC at the same time, it’s unconstitutional. You equally can’t accuse Chief Oshiomhole of any wrong doing, because you were part of all the decisions he took. If there is any mess in APC today, you are part of it.” He said.
